We provide Purdue’s interdisciplinary researchers a platform to share their recently published research and its impact.
What is the blog:
The Purdue Research blog showcases the broad range of research produced by researchers at and affiliated with the university. For each post, we ask researchers to provide information on what they wanted to know in a particular piece of published research, what they found, and the significance of the finding(s). The blog is managed by the Office of Research Communications within the Office of Research.
Who gets to participate:
At this time, we accept submissions from members of Institutes and Centers at Discovery Park District, Institute for Physical Artificial Intelligence, and the Purdue Applied Research Institute who are corresponding author on research published within the last six months in a journal with a Journal Impact Factor above 10 (access the current Clarivate Journal Citation Reports Journal Impact Factor list through the Purdue Library). At this time, we are also asking researchers to limit submissions to no more than one post per semester.
Why should you participate:
The blog is a great opportunity for researchers to share their work with the broader university community and the general public. Content on the blog can be shared with institutes and centers, colleges and departments, and posted on social media, and may also be shared with Purdue Today and the American Association of Universities. Searchable posts may also help reporters searching for experts in a particular field. The blog is a great alternative to a news release.
How to participate:
To take part in the blog, complete our submission form which requests information like your name, faculty affiliations, and research areas, and asks three questions on what you wanted to know, what you found out, and the impact of the research. We do ask that you try to answer these questions in language that will be accessible to a general audience (think undeclared freshman). The more accessible and conversational your answers are, the more likely that your post will be read and shared.
